March 8, 2014 A beautiful day on Watts Bar Lake for The Eagle Anglers. 27 anglers took the lake this morning as chilly temperatures still filled the air. Water temps were still very cool as fishing started this morning. As this day progressed the fishing did begin to pick up for most anglers today. There were a lot of fish caught that didnt quite measure up on TWRA regulations. It is unfortunate to catch a fish that is 1/16 to 1/4 too short, but that was the case for several of these fishermen today. As water temps began to warm, the fishing really picked up for some of the teams. Dillon Moore caught a beautiful sack of largemouth and smallmouth bass that weighed 15.52 lbs. to earn 1st place. Bryce Travis and Shane Broadwell reeled in 4 bass that weighed 12.70 pounds to earn 2nd place. Bryce also caught the BIG FISH of the day at 5.43 lbs. 3rd place went to Cody Gunter and Taylor Clark who also had 4 bass that weighed 10.50 lbs. Fishing is still very tough, but there were a lot of fish caught today. As the water temps continue to warm, the fish will become less lethargic and more aggressive. I am proud of the way you fished hard all day. Your hard work will pay off on May 31, that is the day of the State Tournament. Each time you go fishing you learn a little more and get better at your techniques. It is nice to see you smile, even after a tough day on the lake. Come see me during lunch on Monday. Finals are March 17, 18, and 19. Please take care of business in the classroom. It is nice to hear good things about you from your teachers. Have a blessed Sunday and enjoy your family. Brian
