#MarchinAugust Why is March Australia Crowd Funding? Crowd - TopicsExpress

#MarchinAugust Why is March Australia Crowd Funding? Crowd funding is needed for certain expenses associated with running a march – for example equipment hire, flyers, and printing. Some of the larger city marches will require a PA system, electricity generator for the PA system, and some sort of stage. Yes, a march can be organised without any of these, but may not be as effective. We regard it as important to have informative speakers at our marches, especially in capital cities. People won’t be able to see the speaker if they are not standing higher than crowd level, they will not be able to hear them without a PA. Funds are also needed to promote certain Facebook posts for the marches. Facebook has an in built algorithm where only 13% of page likers see posts. This means if a page has 1000 likes, then only an estimated 130 likers will see the post. The only way to get the rest of the page likers to see the event is to pay for a promoted post. The only time we would do a promoted post is so all our page likers can see our March in August events or so all likers can see our crowd funding post. Many March Australia volunteers pay for some of these expenses out of their own pockets. Why has March Australia chosen to crowd fund with Indiegogo? It is illegal to crowd fund outside of a proper crowd funding platform. March Australia volunteers want to ensure a proper crowd funding platform is used, and everything is above board. Volunteers have spent time researching many crowd funding platforms, and feel Indiegogo is the most suitable for March Australia. Please help support our regions and this movement if you can via the Indigogo link here: https://indiegogo/projects/fundraising-for-march-in-august Thank you.
