Marching into the city center of the countries capital in this manner with such numbers is going to antagonize the population, not referring solely to the protesters. Such a sudden & intimidating presence will of course provoke a reaction from at least a small minority, whether lads out for a drink who had been in no way participating in the protest or travelling protesters panicked by the siege & trying not to be herded & separated from friends. In the footage Ive seen both jeering shit stirrers & scared, overwhelmed, helpless people. The manner which the gardai arrived caused all of this escalate, both the fear & the anger. The average day to day guards have been used like pawns to exacerbate the situation & hijack the narrative of this protest & greatly affect how future protests will be viewed. Contempt & disrespect for the average citizen was shown by those who coordinated this approach by the guards......rant over
