Marché de Noël! I think every local person weve met so far has said to us: Theres not a lot to do in Montbeliard... but just wait for the Christmas Market. Its the best in France! (etc)... This is the time of year in Montbeliard. They started setting up the lights and petites maisons (for vendors selling everything imaginable--including vin chaud (mulled wine!!!=my new favorite beverage) and chocolat chaud à lancienne (the most rich, thick hot chocolate Ive ever had)) on November 1st! It opened yesterday and last night was the first night they turned the lights on. It was pretty spectacular. The invitée dhonneur this year is Portugal, so there are vendors (food, art, etc) and musicians and probably lots of other people who come from Portugal. There was a parade of people dressed in traditional costumes and playing traditional music (we kind of caught a picture of it). Christmas Markets are a huge thing here (France, Europe...?). We saw at least 5 tour buses last night!
