It is the end of an era for Frank Lampard at Chelsea, with the England international confirmed to be leaving Stamford Bridge this summer. Although there is a fair chance that the west Londoners will sign a high-profile replacement, and Cesc Fabregas has been mentioned, there will also be options already at the club. Marco van Ginkel moved to England with a big reputation last summer but had an injury prone campaign. Now, with the young Dutchman returning to fitness, he has been talking up his chances of replacing Chelsea legend Lampard at the Bridge. “I played little this season and I’m finally fit again,” he told FOX Sports. “Top bad he’s leaving, especially for the club. “But for me it’s an advantage, though naturally you never know if they have picked a new player to replace Lampard. “I want to at least be 100 per cent fit while preparing for the new season, so that should still happen this summer. “I’m preparing to start the new season at Chelsea and it is my goal to continue there instead of going on loan.” Van Ginkel was initially listed in the Netherlands’ squad for the World Cup, but was omitted in the final squad.
