Marda Potter Our Christmas Miracle. On Saturday December 20, - TopicsExpress

Marda Potter Our Christmas Miracle. On Saturday December 20, 2014 we were driving from Missouri to California to visit family for Christmas when our car broke down on Hwy I-40 in the middle of no where at mile marker 229 in Moriarty New Mexico. We had just finished listening to two Sermons on CD of Pastor Sam on Restoration and Pastor Ruth on Fear. I was feeling pretty good before the car broke down and decided after listening to Pastor Ruths sermon that I wasnt going to worry or be afraid anymore on the trip and trust in God, because I had been up all the night before worrying about getting Shorty to all these dialysis appointments in various places, that resolve didnt last very long. I went into immediate panic when our car broke down began crying and the message of the sermon seemed to go right out the door and I was feeling so fearful and sorry for myself and Why me God (sorry Ruth). We were in the middle of nowhere, the wind was whipping and cold, and the huge trucks that were racing past were just shaking and rattling our poor old car. We called our insurance road side assistance and they called Macys Towing. I was completely stressed out of my mind as Shorty needed to have kidney dialysis Monday in Las Vegas. We were told there would be nothing open until Monday morning in Moriarty New Mexico and it was late Saturday afternoon. I explained our situation to our tow truck driver not expecting that he could do anything about it, and he got on the phone and called his brother Jose who owns a wrecking yard in Albuquerque and a mechanic (Alex). They both agreed to come in and open up after hours to help us. My first thought upon arriving at the wrecking yard because I watch too many Law and Order and CSIs on TV, is this could end badly, our bodies would never be found, crushed in a car in a junkyard and all our belongings taken, but these guys were just awesome. Alex the mechanic found out what was wrong with our car and charged us such a small amount of money considering it was after hours on a Saturday it was only $40.00. While we were there waiting for our car two young ladies who were sisters one of whom was deaf and a toddler and a 9 month old baby came into the wrecking yard office. The deaf sister was hand signing into a cell phone (which I didnt know was possible how cool) visibly upset and I gathered their car had also broken down. The other sister was trying to rent a car but they didnt have a credit card and none of the rental car companies would rent a car without one (I also didnt know that) her mother had sent her credit card number to them but the car rental companies wanted a physical card. They were trying to get home for Christmas also. Jose the owner of Macys Towing and the wrecking yard told them not to worry he would rent them a car if it came to that and they would get home one way or the other. I felt so bad for them I handed them some money on the sly and they began crying and hugged me. She even tried to give the money back to me, I told her it would just end up in a slot machine.(I know I shouldnt have posted that part on the church website I am a work in progress) Jose was grinning from ear to ear. In that moment it was like we all became a family. A little while later Jose who by the way did not know how much I gave the sisters, came up with an extremely reasonable price for a new water pump installation which coincidentally happened to be the exact amount I had handed the young ladies. I am not saying this to glorify myself (because as everyone knows Im not really that nice), but to show how amazing God is to bring all of us strangers together in a wrecking yard in Albuquerque New Mexico for His Purpose. It ended up that all that was wrong with our car was an air bubble in the line. Just think this mysterious air bubble showed up after two days of driving never to show up again before or after that day, so that we would end up in a wrecking yard in Albuquerque to meet all these strangers and have such a moment. We left the wrecking yard at about 7pm Saturday night exhausted but feeling so Blessed. There were hugs all around and the girls got Shortys cell phone number. I saw later on in a post on Google for Macys towing that the sisters had made it to their destination and their car had been fixed. I felt like I was in an episode of Touched By An Angel. God Bless the guys at Macys Towing in Albuquerque! Shorty had been praying that God would use us on our trip. I of course realized that I was always safe and that God was always there taking care of us and I did ask Shorty to wait until after the trip next time he prayed for God to use us. LOL Marda Potter
