Mare romps home in the 7pm from Guildhall. Sally Holman is celebrating victory after winning her fourth consecutive win as Mayor of Lyme Regis - but not without a colossus amount of controversy. Here, in layman terms are the events of last night: -Sally Holman and Michaela Ellis nominated themselves. -Cllr Ellis revealed a 1979 resolution that said that a mayor could not run for more than two consecutive years if someone else wanted to run. -The group of councillors now known as the gang of five were in uproar, they back Cllr Holman and proceed to break their own rules and voted to rescind the 1979 resolution, thus allowing Cllr Holman to be voted in by a majority. -Cllr Stan Williams protested it was illegal. -Cllr George Symonds stormed out saying he would not be party to something that could be illegal, he was applauded by the public for doing so. -Several members of the gallery shouted and heckled. This is a very brief snippet. DO NOT MISS next weeks View From Newspaper for unedited and much, much more regarding the latest fiasco from our elected peers.
