Maresfield Parish Council We are looking for three new Parish Councillors —could you be one of them? LOCAL ISSUES NEED LOCAL PEOPLE TO SPEAK UP FOR THEM YOU could help keep Maresfield Parish a vibrant and good place to live by becoming a Parish Councillor. YOU could be in at the ‘grass roots’ level of Local Government and be involved in making things happen or getting things sorted! YOU could get local views about local issues brought to the attention of the powers that be. You only need to be able to give up one or two evenings per month to attend Parish Council and Committee meetings, and in return you will receive the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping your local community. Prospective Councillors must qualify for membership of the Parish Council under one of the following provisions of S79 of the local Government Act 1972:- • They are on the Electoral Register for the Parish • They have owned or rented land in the Parish for twelve months • They have worked in the Parish for twelve months • They have lived in the Parish, or within three miles of the Parish Boundary, for twelve months The Parish Council meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm.
