Marguerita and Mission Street closure At approximately 3:00pm - TopicsExpress

Marguerita and Mission Street closure At approximately 3:00pm on today’s date, Alhambra Police received a call to assist Alhambra Public Works with a possible sink hole at the intersection of Mission Road and Marguerita Avenue. Responding police units diverted traffic while the Department of Public Works staff inspected the roadway and the Marguerita Avenue Bridge that is above the Union Pacific railroad tracks. The Public Works Department was unable to positively determine the cause for the depression in the roadway which measures approximately ten feet in diameter and six inches deep. The depression has not gotten any bigger in the past several hours. Out of an abundance of caution, the Marguerita Avenue overpass at Mission Road and the number two lane of eastbound Mission Road between Electric and Marguerita Avenue will be closed to all traffic until further notice. City of Alhambra and Los Angeles County personnel will return to the site on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 to further inspect the problem and determine what repairs will be needed. The Alhambra Police Department will update the public as information becomes available.
