Mariano Ponce (March 23, 1863-May 23, 1918) was a Philippine physician who became head of the Propaganda Movement urged the Philippines to the revolution against the Spaniards in 1896. He was born in Baliwag, Bulacan on March 22, 1863. His parents were Don Mariano Ponce and Maria de los Santos. She studied Elementary in Baliwag and graduated high school at a private school. The Colegio de San Juan de Letran he graduated Bachiller en Artes. He studied medicine at the Central University of Madrid. Identified him as a propagandist, writer, physician and popular reformist during the propaganda. He edited the newspaper La Solidaridad and active member of Asosacion Hispano-Filipino. During the Propaganda, he used symbolism to Tikbalang, Nanding and Kalipulako his writing. He is known as active researchers propagandists. He traveled to different spaces such as Canton, Hong Kong and Handow. In Hong Kong he met General Emilio Aguinaldo and the Indo-China and Shanghai also he met the founder and the first President of the Republic of China, Dr.. Sun Yat Sen. In 1898 when Japan sent him to interact with government officials there. There he was married akiyo Undangawa. They had four children. He served as a legislator in the National Assembly, and representative of the second district of Bulacan. As a writer, he has written literary works in Spanish, Tagalog and English. As a contributor to the Philippine Literature, from his pen The Legend of Bulacan, a collection of folklore; Stories People in the Province of Bulacan, The Pagpugot with Longhinos, a table presented in Malolos Town Parks, The Literature of the Movement Propaganda: The Historical Studies About the Philippines, and many others. He died of tuberculosis in Hong Kong on May 23, 1918.
