Marianos Coming to the Fourth Ward Were also happy to report that the development team includes a joint venture with an African-American construction firm, and the store is designed by an African-American architect. With the Chicago Planning Commission signing off recently on the planned development for a Marianos at 39th and King Drive, we took a very important step toward bringing fresh, top of the line groceries to our Fourth Ward community! Marianos will kick start the economic development of 39th Street. At 74,000 square feet, it will serve as an anchor development, attracting additional retail to the corridor. Marianos has committed to hiring members of the community, including public housing residents.
