Marika got back from her training camp in Mexico and we had a good Skype chat last night. She was giggling the whole time she related the adventure of Mum and Dads tequila bottle. She bought it on advice from her Mexican rowing coach (good sipping tequila), but happened to find a 1.6 L bottle very on sale (not thinking that the max you can bring back duty free is 1.1 L. She carefully wrapped it and put it in her carry on bag. Shortly after she checked in her luggage, a friend noted that she wouldnt be able to take the bottle onto the plane. After arguing that it was the right decision because it was glass and would break, she clued into the max 100 mL allotment. Quickly she dashed back to the check out counter, they said she could check it in for free as long as it was well suitably wrapped. $17 later after a visit to the extreme wrapping kiosk, and asking for as many fragile stickers as they would allow, she checked the bottle in, fully expecting it to be broken or lost at the other end. After a plane change and two sets of customs she retrieves it from the baggage and successfully brings it home. Hopefully the trip from Toronto to Alliston will be as smooth.
