Marikana Evictions update: I was alerted last night that the return date for the Rule Nisi was today. The community, unrepresented were unaware that they would be exposed to final confirmation today and were going to attend court to gather more information. I was able to chat to the attorney for the landowners who agreed that the matter should be postponed so that Access to Justice could consult with the community and provide legal representation. We are grateful that the matter has been postponed by agreement to 2nd October. We cannot continue to live with the status quo where the poor have such deficient Access to Justice. We must understand that this is a disservice to every citizen of our nation. And once understood, we must say No to this and work to create a better narrative for all. Peace.
