Marina is taking her Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is Kyoto at the moment. I am hanging out in Starbucks on Sanjo overlooking the Kamo River waiting for her to finish in a few hours. This is her first official step to returning to Michigan to attend Alma College starting in the fall of 2015. Next step...actually applying ;-) Some of you might be thinking, English as a Foreign Language - Marina? Yep, as she is not graduating from an English language high school, she needs to establish her English proficiency with this test. Of course, it is not an easy test for anyone, but she is approaching it with a positive attitude and knows it will be a good experience. She will gain a better appreciation of what other international students (Tiago, Chinatsu) go through to fulfill their dreams of studying in the US and, specifically, at Alma College. If you see this message in the next 3 hours or so, send her some positive mental and spiritual energy (fancy phrasing for thoughts and prayers) :-)
