Marine Ecologist (Coastal Impacts) - Australian Institute of Marine Science - Townsville, QLD Salary: $109,525 - $140,217 pa. + super Permanent on-going position VRN: 525 The Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) is Australia’s tropical marine research agency with a mission to deliver world class research for the sustainable development, conservation, and management of tropical marine resources and environments. The Institute has world-class laboratory facilities in Townsville Queensland, Perth Western Australia, and Darwin Northern Territory, two modern research vessels and extensive technical support. Our people deliver innovative research in water quality, tropical marine biodiversity, climate change and marine microbiology. An opportunity has been created for a senior scientist with an excellent track record in the assessment and management of environmental impacts in the marine environment to join our senior research team. A key focus for this role will be to develop and lead research aimed at understanding the direct and cumulative impacts on tropical marine ecosystems of increasing coastal development activities around northern Australia, including port development, shipping, coastal aquaculture and catchment use. Postdoctoral experience in the fields of coastal ecology, physiology, ecotoxicology, or ecosystem modelling is essential. Direct experience with the management of environmental impacts from coastal development from a regulator or industry perspective would be highly valued. Attractive working conditions apply including a commencing salary of $109,525 - $140,217 plus up to 15.4% superannuation, generous leave, relocation assistance and many other benefits.
