Marine Park in Brooklyn is New York City’s seventh largest park. This “Forever Wild” preserve is best known for its fertile salt marshes. Other natural features include extensive grasslands, meadows and sand dunes. True to its title, approximately one-third of the 789-acre parkland is under water. The majority of the territory was donated to New York City in the early 1900s. Marine Park is home to the Salt Marsh Nature Center, which offers guided tours of the marshlands. Their extensive Salt Marsh Trail gives visitors an up close look at the unique array of regional flora and fauna that thrive there. Notable recreational amenities include athletic fields, boat launches, and a 210-acre golf course.
