Mario Bauza introduced Latin music to the U.S., coming here from Cuba in 1928 as a classical clarinetist to play in symphonic orchestras (!) HE is largely the reason we had a popular surge of Latin dance music, usually for big bands (blame Ricky Ricardo on Mario! My Name is Cuban Pete).. considered the first true Afro-Cuban jazz.. hes awesome.. we used to pick up Cuban radio on AM and listen to this anytime.. here is Peanut Vendor, which you probably have heard (Louis Armstrong had a version) and didnt know the title.. incredible trumpet, likely Victor Paz.. (title in Spanish is El Manicero?) youtu.be/fmVKWnUdW4o
