Marissa, there is a huge difference when someone is killed under the color of justice. When you are killed by a police officer sanctioned by the state, there is no comparison to crime that occurs in the Black community between Blacks. The police should be helping to prevent all crime, including Black on Black murders. But one situation has absolutely nothing to do with the other. You show a great deal of ignorance to assert that Black people should quietly accept the wholesale killing of Blacks by police when nothing is happening to these officers. If you kill someone Black or White, you are going to prison. When someone White kills someone Black, the judicial system has proven that it does not value Black life as being equal to White life. That premise is founded in the concept of White supremacy and goes all the way back to the founding of this country. When our constitution was written, you were only credited as being 3/5 of a man if you were Black. It was not intended that you would have a vote, rather that Blacks would be chattel to be traded like any other real property. Many Whites would have us go back to that system of government if allowed. As such, we can not afford to be silent while we are being killed disproportionately throughout the country by police without transparency and without judicial consequence. Words of wisdom to be heeded my niece!
