Marjorie Rose Gutekunst Flad | Visit Guest Book Marjorie Rose Gutekunst Flad passed away on November 21, 2014. She was 87 years old. She was the beloved wife of the late Lawrence S. Flad, Sr. Loving mother of Kathryn F. Livaudais, Lawrence S. Flad, Jr. and the late Barbara F. Thompson. Mother-in-law of Ronald J. Livaudais, Becky B. Flad and Dennis Thompson. Daughter of the late Earl A. Gutekust and Ollie Randall Gutekunst. Adored grandmother of Tracie Allen, Daryl Allen (Angela), Karen Allen-Hughes, David Allen (Amy), Larry M. Flad (Sandra), Toni F. Rossi (Tony), Jessica Fitzsimmons (Charles, Jr.), Yvonne Legaux (Melvin), Lorraine Mejia (Alberto, Jr.), Sara Bernoudy, Sidney Bernoudy, Amanda Livaudais, Melissa Livaudais, and the late Laura Flad. She is also survived by thirty-two great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and many cousins, whom she was close. Sister-in-law of the late Lorraine F. Pelais, Terrance Flad, Helen F. Forsyth, Joyce F. McGuire and Joan F. Melerine. She graduated from Loyola University. Margie was a lifelong educator, teaching for over thirty years with the Archdiocese of New Orleans at Incarnate Word School, St. Rita School (New Orleans), St. Louise King of France School, and St. Agnes School. She also taught for Orleans Parish Schools at William Rogers Elementary School. Margie was a loving wife, devoted mother, adored Maw-Maw to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a devout Catholic who attended daily mass. She had a special devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and prayed the rosary daily. She frequently put others needs before her own. She received the St. Louis Medallion from the Archdiocese of New Orleans for her service to St. Louise King of France Parish. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass at St. Rita of Cascia Catholic Church, 7118 Jefferson Hwy., Harahan, LA., on Friday, November 28, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery No. 1. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made in her memory to Pace of Greater New Orleans, 4201 N.
