Mark 15:33-37 And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he calleth Elias. And one ran and filled a spunge full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink, saying, Let alone; let us see whether Elias will come to take him down. And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost. Jesus does not say much in words once he is taken into custody, but He continues to communicate His love (for His Father and for us) and commitment to His mission. With the death of Jesus on the cross, the necessary punishment for sin, for all time, has been unleashed. The demand for justice is satisfied. Do not forget that there is a cost to the forgiveness and mercy that we are shown, and that cost was the human life of the Son of God. 1 Cor. 6:19-20 says, Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
