Mark 9:33-35 33 After they arrived at Capernaum and settled in a house, Jesus asked his disciples, What were you discussing out on the road? 34 But they didnt answer, because they had been arguing about which of them was the greatest. 35 He sat down, called the twelve disciples over to him, and said, Whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else. The disciples were just plain men like you and me and at times sort of lost sight of what was going on around them. Their “human” side popped up all the time and this was sure one of them. They were worried about who was going to #1 in their little group. I wonder what the look was like on their faces when they figured out they were to SERVE not to be SERVED. Even today folks within the church lose sight of this fact and what to sit back and bask in the glory of others patting them on the back.
