Mark Fenner and Damian Mason continued their dominance of time trialling at major Championships events while Jade Colligan picked up another medal in the NSW Criterium Championships over the weekend. Fenner won gold in the Australian Masters division 3 Individual Time Trial Championship at Breadalbane to claim his third consecutive National ITT title. Fenner rode over the 22.5 kilometre course in 30 minutes 5.55 seconds. Earlier in the year Fenner had won the NSW Masters division 3 ITT title and was placed second in the NSW Elite ITT Championship. Henner is also the Optus Nowra Velo Club ITT champion, a title he has held for four years. Mason went into this National title series well under done compared to previous starts but flogged himself into the silver medal position to have two Nowra Velo/ FPT riders on the top of the podium in this division. Mason rode the course in 31 minutes 47.25 seconds. This was Mason?s fourth National silver medal in this event. Jade Colligan continued the Nowra Velo/FTP medal count on Saturday when she took the silver medal in the NSW Junior Under Women?s Criterium Championship at Homebush on Saturday. National champion and World championship competitor, Josie Talbot (Macarthur CC) was the favoured rider in this event but Jade is not fazed by reputations. Colligan attacked, made breaks and escaped with others riooders from time to time during the event but Talbot and Colligan were back together for the finish and the experience of Talbot gave her the title. As usual, Jade comes away from another event with a broad smile and more experience. There are big things to come from Jade Colligan in cycling next year. This was Jade?s third state Junior medal this year. She has a gold from the road race, a silver from the criterium and a bronze from the ITT. She also has a gold from the NSW Southern Division Championships. The Masters National Championships continued with criteriums at Goulburn where Fenner finished fifth in his event. Then it was off to Gunning for the road championships on Sunday. Nowra Velo entrants here were Fenner along with John Cullity and Hubert Driehuis in the Masters division 8 event, Rob Pickard in Masters division 7 and Patrick McSwiney in Masters division 9. Local racing returns to Braidwood Road next Sunday with round eleven of the 2013 MacDonald International Teams Challenge series. Hanlon Windows are the team leaders and they will need to field a strong entry to hold off the challenges from the Electrical teams, Gordon McDonald and TLE. This event will be a 54 kilometre handicap race starting at 9 am. Entires close at 8.45 am and the Berry Mountain Cycles team will host the event.
