Mark Wahlberg got preferential treatment despite violently - TopicsExpress

Mark Wahlberg got preferential treatment despite violently attacking two asian men when he was 17. and the fact that he was given only 45 days in jail was used as an example that white privilege has always been part of American justice system. Nobody in their right mind will dispute that fact. This seemingly glaring disparity of sentences handed out to white men vs non white men have made a lot of asians quite angry (more angry than two hashtags fighting it out online) and most if not all asian commentators have been up in arms while suggesting that Mark should not get a pardon for the crimes he committed when he was an underage dickhead. And that is where i depart from my own kind. First and foremost the goal of all this protesting, rioting, tweeting, hashtagging, writing bleedy-heart slam poetry for Williamsburg collective, is to have a justice system that is more compassionate and level headed despite the offenders race, gender, religious affiliation. The goal is NOT to hand out ridiculous sentences to offenders. The goal is NOT to create a system of retribution and an army of unforgivables (we already have that in form of the CIA). Ultimately the goal is that we will all be treated as kennedy white (i.e. the most privileged of whites) when cops stop us. so let us stop shitting on this dude because you are angry at the system. Your anger is misplaced and blind (and a little embarrassing), just like the system you are trying to fix.
