Mark my words. Fast food franchises will apply for, and get, federal subsidies to compensate for the business lost due to a higher minimum wage, if this gets traction. Either way, the regular folks are going to get screwed. In a real free market system, theyd simply lose business (or not), but these chains have become large, and powerful, and theyll find a way to get money from congress to make up their loses. Dont believe me? Amtrack does. All of the airlines, with one or two noteable exceptions do, and all of the green energy companies all run on nothing but our tax dollars being diverted and misused to fund them...
