Sanders, M.D., Commanding Officer of the Naval Medical Research Center, Silver Spring, Maryland, who will discuss Navy Medicine and the role it plays in global health. Thousands of Americas finest young men and women are stationed around the world with boots on the ground or aboard ships, submarines and aircraft. Navy Medicines (U.S. Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery) research has a direct impact on the health and medical readiness of these Sailors and Marines. From research in infectious diseases, biological defense, combat casualty care, military operational and expeditionary medicine, bone marrow transplantation, and aerospace, submarine, and diving medicine, Navy Medicine is committed to translating discoveries at the bench and in the field into products for the Navy and Marine Corps.
