Marlborough Rotary Club Donates to Marlborough Hospital Cancer Center Marlborough, MA (June 18, 2013) – In keeping with their motto of “Service above self,” the Marlborough Rotary Club recently donated $15,000 to the Marlborough Hospital Cancer Pavilion. “One of our major areas of focus this year is Disease Prevention and Care,” explained Bonnie Doolin, Marlborough Rotary Club President. “Everyone in our Club was very pleased to support the building of this beautiful cancer treatment center, as it will ease the burden of coping with this disease for so many patients and their families from Marlborough and surrounding towns. Marlborough Hospital is raising the standard of care to a new level with this patient-centered design, intended to be a soothing environment at a very difficult time.” “We are truly honored that the Marlborough Rotarians thought of Marlborough Hospital when they were deciding where to donate the funds raised from their 90th Anniversary Celebration,” said Ellen Carlucci, Marlborough Hospital’s Vice President of Development, Marketing and Communications. “We all know someone impacted by cancer and because of the generosity of the Marlborough Rotary Club, our friends and loved ones now have the ability to receive high-quality cancer care close to home.” The Cancer Center at Marlborough Hospital— in partnership with the UMass Memorial Health Care Cancer Center of Excellence and the University of Massachusetts Medical School --will house medical oncology and radiation oncology services; highly trained, skilled cancer specialists; and will include a special space for a meditative Healing Garden. The completed center is slated to open later this fall.
