Marram Grass now being planted on TOC is madness. Yet further - TopicsExpress

Marram Grass now being planted on TOC is madness. Yet further destruction of our courses from those who think they are in the know but in reality seem to understand Sweet F@#k All. Marram Grass is local, it grows on the dunes by the sea, its bonds the sand and helped settle the moving sand so why have in scattered over the course as a weak alternative to gorse or whin. Old Tom, I feel would not be amused after his hard work over 38 years to create The Old Course. His clearance was done for a reason clearly well beyond the imagination of the modern men of design and science that are working for The Links Trust. Have the Links Trust really lost sight of their goal, their legal requirements to the people or are they just serving one master these days that being ‘The R&A’. Time Gentlemen to stop and think just what it is you are doing. Is it not time to reflect upon not just the game but the greatness of some of our golf courses? This is being seen as vandalism by many both in the UK and the world at large. It also I believe shows poor light on the Golf Course Design Industry for not trying to stand up and honestly place their serious objections, not only to this but the other modifications being made in the pretence of changes for the 2015 Open. I believe moves are afoot to start looking at generating a challenge to the Links Trust and also The R&A’s lack of accountability, I so long for that day when certain individuals answer for their crimes against all aspects relating to the game of golf. I cannot call upon Old Tom to forgive those who have forced through these changes on The Old Course – but I can ask future Courses and Clubs not to employ anyone involved in the rape of The Old Course. Yes many feel it is very serious attack upon one of Golfs greatest and oldest courses.
