Marriage Matters, We pray you are doing well and practically - TopicsExpress

Marriage Matters, We pray you are doing well and practically applying all that you are learning in our series, Becoming One. This past Sunday Jimmy talked about three “intimacy inhibitors,” unrealistic expectations, rejection of our inherent differences, and distraction. We are sure, if you have been married longer than a day, at least one, if not all three, of these have plagued your marriage at some point. The good news is that we have the ability, with God’s help, to rise above these inhibitors and experience true intimacy the way He intended. We showed a funny video from Pete Wilson and his wife Brandi from Cross Point Church in Nashville, TN. This was a promotional video for a marriage series they did in their church three years ago, but it was so applicable in light of our topic this past week. Several of you have asked about it, so we wanted to share it with you. The shower cap thing had us laughing hysterically! Te video is posted below. As you take time for your “homework” this week (found on pages 91-100), you will discover your spouse’s deepest need, your deepest need, and the result of trying to meet those for each other. You will take time to create new expectations in your relationship, discuss leisurely things you enjoy doing together, and dig deeper into your personal “money language” as well as that of your spouse. This time together not only discussing these things, but praying about them, will strengthen your marriage and create a deeper level of intimacy. When you put God at the center of your marriage and seek to honor Him by honoring your spouse, the result will astound you! This week, Jimmy will continue to discuss four more “intimacy inhibitors.” As we identify these, we will recognize them before they have the ability to do irreparable damage. We can combat them with God’s Word and His design for intimacy. We look forward to seeing you on Sunday as we glean more practical truths from God’s Word through Jimmy’s lesson as well as time in our small groups. Coffee and light refreshments are available in both the 9:30 and 10:30 classes. Breakfast responsibility this week (Week 2) in the 9:30 class belongs to Table 3 (Bryon and Mary Brinson), Table 7 (Brad and Lori Keim), and Table 11 (Tim and Melaney Patchett). Blessings, Steve and Tabitha Deller
