Marriage is a perfect institution in which two imperfect people make an exclusive lifelong commitment to make it all work. Maintain that commitment and dont let the challenges of life overcome you. Instead stick together and overcome! Dont let the emotion of anger take over you. Its destructive. It sucks out any iota of honour, respect, value, gentleness, tenderness and the like, from any relationship! Learn to control your temper - that is a sign of maturity. An immature person is not able to put himself or herself under control; they react without thinking and do so much damage before they realise it! If you are angry over an issue, particularly in your relationship, take a step back and cool down before responding. Reacting in anger damages everything!! Please know that there cannot be be peace in a family where abusing each other (physically, emotionally, etc) is a hobby. Any man that beats his wife is beating himself (or vice versa); therefore is in dire need of psychiatric attention. The Word of God tells us that he that loves his wife, loves himself (Ephesians 5:28), so he that beats his wife must be beating himself. There are also some women who may be stronger than their husbands and see beating him as an option, even when she is unprovoked. Your husband is the head of your home and a reflection of Christ, dont disrespect him in such a manner (any other manner is unacceptable also). I heard someone say that if you are that strong and you want to fight, go to the sports council; why fight without a medal? Please treat each other with tenderness and care. No matter the level of spirituality you claim to have, you are not reflecting christianity when you abuse your spouse (or intended spouse) physically, emotionally or otherwise. In fact, it shows a very high level of immaturity and irresponsibility. Dont make excuses for it, just change. Dont accept that you just have a bad temper, etc. Such an attitude can destroy any family. And note that anything bad can be turned to good with Gods help. The only thing your spouse should be receiving from you is affection, kindness, and everything close to it!
