Mars with PIPP, an even cursory comparison! Im testing a new - TopicsExpress

Mars with PIPP, an even cursory comparison! Im testing a new program called PIPP selection of frames. New to me wearing only the AS! 2, but for all I know was released in January 2012. I really like the AS! 2 but always noticed one thing that bothered me, that is, when he selected the best frames and then I analyzed one by one, I realized that a few bad frames mingled most good frames. For my logical conclusion these bad frames to be stacked should degrade the image of the good frames. There is a version of AS! 2 that allows you to manually eliminate this bad frames but this carries a great job depending on the number of frames you are using. My friend Rafael Compassi called my attention to the PIPP (https://sites.google/site/astropipp/downloads), said that by been researching this program was much more potent than Castrator and many astrophotographers tip were using because it had more resources operation. With the help of colleague Raphael, downloaded it and did some tests, including a comparison which is attached hereto. Its not a fair comparison because some processing parameters were different. The color for example is always difficult to reproduce with equal processing to another and here we note that they are different. Another thing was that I used Fitswork with the PIPP, which is known to be a great program for deconvolution while processing done only with AS! 2 it was not used. But what makes the PIPP basically? He selects the best frames and creates a new movie that can be chosen from various formats. This movie can be created if opting number of frames or percentage of frames that you want to use the total. The film set is logically less than the original film thus enabling the AS! 2 work faster. He always brings the film created for the source file, then just open this movie in AS! 2 and process usually as occurred. Despite the difference in processing between the two attached photos could reach some interesting conclusions. 1. PIPP works with any sized file, even large files, but this Castrator limited to files with a maximum size of 640 X 480. 2. The PIPP has a plethora of features that do not even know how to use, but the timing caught my attention with Win JUpos and the possibility of derrotação frames. 3. Analyzing the output movie I could see a better selection of good frames, ie, almost no bad frames lost in the middle, which will help not degrade this good frames when stacked. 4. The PIPP is very intuitive and easy to use, even if there is doubt has excellent tutorial at the link where you download the program itself. 5. It was noteworthy that the picture made with the PIPP were used only 920 frames frames against 10,000 the previous picture, thats right, not wrong on the numbers. Both I Compassi colleague realized that the photos stacked on AS! 2 that were selected by the PIPP had much less noise than images obtained only from the AS! 2. 6. According to the Compassi say: You can capture an absurd number of frames and then from this huge movie create a smaller film with only the best frames. For this I have yet to test if the PIPP to enable larger than 4 Gb eg films. Imagine; capture 20,000 frames of Jupiter and select only the best in 2000 PIPP, derrotacionar and send for processing later on AS! 2. I may seem optimistic but I think that is opening a new door to circumvent this terrible seeing what we are facing. Anyway, my settings are still inconclusive, but Im posting them here just to try to get attention from peers who are interested in testing this program and also those who already use it to post to your opinion. Lets discuss your potential defects or we will see if it is worth, we will create a forum for discussion for all of us aggrandizing planetary astrophotographers. Avani Soares astrobin/full/135524/0/
