Marsden Point Oil Spill dive Survey of Erquatts Bay Scallop beds and Seabed ... 2days after... 4/5 3m tides later... Looking at condition of sea life .. and condition of scallop shells.. Diver says the scallop bed is getting hammered by the recreational seasonal gatherers, since his last dive... we had searched 2x areas at erquatts covering an 1acre area = 1 rugby field... No sign of oil slick. . Except for boat motor gas n oil... Seabed Normal for this current day an age... visibility 1 1/2 m .. after wet weather here in whangarie. Another dive was conducted at the nook, Parua Bay.. with no visibility at 13m .. Ocean seaweed from whangarie bad weather mixing well with land run offs .. leaf litter, seabird droppings, medicine from filtering root systems of coastal vegetation. We did not do a dive around Marsden Point Shipping Warf. This area needs to be looked at by whomever wants to take it further. . Marine Environments seem alive and well with no sign of contamination. These facts are from my own personal observations and would welcome any comments of how I could do a better report of studies towards environmental reporting.
