Marta Walczykiewicz (Poland), gold medal winner in K1 women’s 200m event, just after the final race: “That was a really hard one. I don’t like this weather at all.. and I do not mean the sunshine, but these strong head winds.. I could not really see the other boats very well - as I was in lane two, I saw only those in lanes 1 and 3 from the corner of my eye. Before the start I tried to clear my mind once more, and then I just did my thing, like I was “in a tunnel”. It was a really fast race, and in the end I came in first with a comfortable lead.”
