Martial arts in Southern China have a long historic association with monasteries and temples, but in most cases this legacy was discontinued many years ago. In Zhangzhou, Fujian, perhaps one of the most culturally conservative places in the South of China, temple martial arts were kept alive until recent memories. During our latest trip to Zhangzhou, we visited the historic Nanshan Temple, which was founded during the Kaiyuan period in the Tang dynasty, were martial arts practice continued until the 1980s. 華南的武術跟寺廟歷代有很深的淵源，但大部份廟宇已經找不到習武的蹤影。福建漳州，由於其偏遠的地理位置，寺廟武術卻保留至近代。日前國術總會赴漳州一旅，我們步涉唐代開元年間興建的南山寺。在這裏僧侶習武的傳統延續至上世紀80年代。
