Martin Federal Credit Union is looking for a self-motivated individual to join its management team as the Vice President of Lending. Reporting directly to the CEO, this executive will be responsible for direct and indirect consumer lending, mortgage lending and business lending. Additionally, the Vice President of Lending is responsible for collections, loss mitigation and all loan servicing and lending operations. The Vice President of Lending will be accountable for the development of products and services, lending strategy, and ensuring that the department’s operations are in accordance with established policies and procedures. The successful candidate must be able to provide leadership and strategic guidance to ensure that the credit union develops, supports, and efficiently delivers valuable loan products and services to its members. This individual will actively participate with other senior managers in the strategic planning process. The successful candidate will have extensive experience within a team environment. A minimum of five to ten years of management experience in lending services and a Bachelor’s degree are required. Experience in the credit union or community banking industry is preferred. Hours Requirements: Salary Exempt - 40+ hrs per week Skill Requirements: A Bachelors degree. Five to ten years of similar or related experience; financial industry preferred. Must have in-depth understanding of and ability to interpret regulations affecting lending programs. Extensive knowledge of consumer, commercial and real estate lending practices and procedures. Should be able to run spreadsheet and word processing software. The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Position Description: To direct and coordinate all lending activities within the credit union, insuring compliance with credit union lending policy; assist in development of lending policy; manage lending activity to meet credit union goals and objectives. Essential Functions: Directs and monitors lending operations for the entire credit union, through subordinate managers/supervisors, to ensure that the credit union meets established goals and objectives with respect to lending. Monitors product delivery and quality and takes action to resolve problems. Chairs credit committee. Arranges for loan applications to go to the credit committee. Provides an overview and recommendations for the committee. Develops, proposes, gains acceptance for and implements lending program policy and strategy; leads activity related to new product development with respect to lending programs. Participates in establishment of annual department budget and monitors performance to budget throughout the year; establishes annual sales goals (in conjunction with Marketing) for lending programs and initiates action to achieve established goals. Prepares department scheduling, periodic loan department updates, and periodic reports for managements financial and operational reports; including, new loan report, asset/liability report, loan officer statistical report, commercial potential problem loans reports. Examines, evaluates, authorizes or recommends approval of member applications for commercial loans and lines of credit. Reviews periodically for required updated financial information and field visits. Ensures the credit union is in compliance with all lending regulations; develops procedural changes as compliance requires or new programs demand.
