Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd Lane Closures for the Frisco Trail - TopicsExpress

Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd Lane Closures for the Frisco Trail Extension Construction of the ½ mile Frisco Trail Extension will necessitate reduction of lanes on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. (MLK Jr. Blvd.) from Government Ave. to S. School Ave. (Hwy71B) for 6 weeks beginning on Wednesday, July 17th through September 1st 2013, to allow for the installation of a tunnel under the MLK Jr. Blvd. to provide a safe passage for the new trail extension. MLK Jr. Blvd. will be reduced from 5 lanes to 2 lanes. The lanes will be shifted as the tunnel work progresses and will be designated by the signs and barriers. All turn lanes will be open at the intersection of MLK Jr. Blvd. and S. School Ave. The City Council is set to approve a contract with Boulder Construction on Tuesday, July 16th. The Frisco Trail Extension is part of the 36-mile Razorback Regional Greenway and will provide safe pedestrian and bicycle connections for the numerous residents and businesses around Walker Park, as well as the future Tsa La Gi (Cherokee) Trail to be extended west along the old rail line south of MLK Jr. Blvd. The project includes construction of a tunnel under MLK Jr. Blvd., installation of 3 new bridges at stream crossings, and installation of a pedestrian hybrid beacon signal at the proposed crossing of S. School Ave. (Hwy 71B). On behalf of the City of Fayetteville, we would like to express our appreciation for your cooperation and understanding as we perform our work in this area. For additional information on the project, please contact the City of Fayetteville Engineering Division office at 479-575-8206 or visit accessfayetteville.org.
