Martin Luther was born into Roman Catholicism. At some point during a storm Luther made a vow to God that if he lived through the storm, promising God he would convert to being a monk, and kept his promise. Luther feared hell and God’s wrath, and a yearning for salvation pushed him onward. Luther became overwhelmed by the knowledge of Jesus being saved by grace through having faith. “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.” (Ephesians 2:8, NIV). Luther became a professor in Wittenberg, his faith grew & he spoke passionately about Jesus, & his role as the only way between God & man. Luther spoke of man being justified, & they would be forgiven of their sins. God gave us a free gift of salvation, as a result of Jesus giving up His own life so would have such a chance to bestowed upon us for forgiveness. These very revelations of truth made a difference, affected and changed Luther’s life and Christianity. Luther stood up and defended the truth, and freedom of religion. Luther made an impact and molded Christianity a great deal. Luther affected Christianity to where freedom of religion was available for individual people that accepted it. Luther disapproved of the indulgence sales that ended up becoming protests against Rome. The 95 Theses helped spread the ideas of Protestant Reformation. A convention that was known as the “Diet of Worms,” was held. Luther was asked to deny God’s Word as the truth, but Luther stood strong and did not give in or give up. Luther translated the truth, so the people would have an opportunity to read the Word of God, and distributed the Bibles.
