Marussia thankful for support Graeme Lowdon has thanked the F1 paddock and the sports fans for all the support Marussia have received this week. The team is still reeling from the terrible accident that Jules Bianchi suffered last Sunday in Japan. Lowdon confirmed that his driver remains in a critical condition at the Mei General Hospital having undergone emergency surgery on a severe head injury. Bianchis parents are by his side, supported by not only Marussia team principal John Booth but also members of the FIA and Bianchis management. It has been an incredibly difficult week for F1 and an incredibly difficult week for our team, Lowdon said in Fridays press conference. Jules is in hospital, hes in a critical condition and the thoughts of everybody in the team are with Jules at this moment and with his family. It has been a really really difficult time for the team. Our priority from this point onwards is obviously to Jules and his family, to provide them with the maximum amount of support at what is a difficult time. From a team point of view we want to thank anyone who has provided support. As for the decision to race this weekend in Russia, Lowdon said it is what Bianchi would have wanted. He added: We are lying ninth in the Championship and are in that position largely because of Jules. Hes a racing driver, he would want us to do the best we can and we thought the right thing to do is to come here but obviously as a mark of respect we would withdraw the second car. #PoloWorldOfF1
