San Francisco Opera Chorus Soprano and Eureka Native EUREKA – Eureka native and Eureka College alumna Mary Finch will present “Home for Christmas with Mary Finch” at 4:00 PM, December 14 at the Eureka Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) 302 S. Main St. Finch recently completed her 17th season as a soprano with the San Francisco Opera Chorus. Performing with Finch will be San Francisco Opera Chorus tenor Dan Stanley. Laura Weaver Hughes of Eureka will provide piano accompaniment. The program will include selections from the musical “Showboat” and traditional Christmas music. Admission is $10. For reservations, call 877-892-7823. Proceeds will go to the church’s music program and a planned summer music and arts festival at Eureka College. Finch is a daughter of Jim Finch of Cocoa Beach, Fla., and the late Jo Finch. She graduated from Eureka High School in 1980. Finch received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in vocal performance from Eureka College in 1984 and Bradley University in 1994 respectively. She did additional study at Southern Methodist University and the American Institute for Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. She was a member of the Lyric Opera of Chicago’s supplementary chorus for two seasons. Finch is a founding member of the San Francisco Festival Chorale, which performs exclusively at the Grand Teton Music Festival in Jackson Hole, Wyo. She was the soprano soloist with the San Francisco Boys Chorus in its performance of Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s “Te Deum” in San Francisco and at the festival. She is a member of the Lyric Vocal Quartet of San Francisco, which has performed throughout the United States and in Paris as guests of the ambassador at his private residence. In recent years, Finch has done freelance work with the San Francisco Festival Chorale at Skywalker Ranch and can be heard on a number of movie trailers, soundtracks and video games. Two years ago she became the assistant manager of the San Francisco Opera Chorus and assists the chorus master and the chorus manager with daily operations of the ensemble.
