Mary Kom (4/5) : Yes you get the goose bumps, yes you feel your eyes getting moist, yes you do travel the journey with her in many parts. If you just get past the commercialized aspect of monetizing the movie with Iodex, intex, Tata salt, sugarfree advertisement then its worth spending money on. Music has not been used as a tool in this one much but I guess a sports movie is more about creating the air of anticipation and this one sure had that. The story of Mangte Chungneijang Mary Kom or as now famously called the Magnificient Mary Kom is not completely based on her real story but inspired by and some key moments in her life are used as the anchor point for the naration. Director went Bollywoodish with his direction and added some masala to keep it peppy. Its gripping and you even get the deja vu moments from Rocky series but this is our Marys story. Various issues touched by the movie range from Women empowerment, career and family life balance, alienating feeling by the North Eastern states, the politics in the game. All the topics were touched and Priyanka proved her metal once again. Her acting was amazing and her nuiances of the character were effortless. The supporting cast did fine but Piggy Chops performance was too overwhelming. You should go and watch this one, its one of the good ones. I knew Mary Kom only as a boxer but surely after this movie I guess I feel more proud of her for our nation.
