Mary O’Malley[Porcelain Dishware Covered with Marine Life] 뉴욕에 기반을 둔 공예가 Mary O’Malley는 해저에 있는 해양생물과 도자기 식기의 융합으로 그녀의 작업을 현재까지도 계속하고 있습니다. 바다에 흩어져 있는 있는 객체처럼, 그녀의 조각물들은 해가 갈수록 다양한 동식물들로 둘러쌓여 있는데요. 최근 그녀의 작품들에는 전체적으로 산호, 해초, 갑각류, 그리고 촉수가 많다고 합니다. 그녀는 수작업으로 모든 것들을 만드는데, 주전자와 식기들은 직접 손으로 빚어 만들고, 아주 거친 느낌의 사실적인 조각표현을 위해서 붉은 산화철을 사용한다고 합니다. 필라델피아 예술 대학교에서 도자기로 BFA과정(Bachelor of Fine Arts)을 받은 후, 지금 그녀는 뉴욕에 살고 있고, 롱 아일랜드 남쪽 해안에 있는 작은 공간에서 작업을 해 나가고 있습니다. :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mary O’Malley[Porcelain Dishware Covered with Marine Life] New York-based artist Mary O’Malley (previously) continues her fantastic amalgamations of porcelain dishware encrusted with ocean life titled Bottom Feeders. Like any object resting on the ocean floor, her sculptures have become increasingly swarmed by flora and fauna over the years, with some of her most recent pieces appearing wholly consumed by coral, seaweed, crustaceans, and tentacles. O’Malley creates everything you see by hand, the teapots and other dishes are thrown and hand-built porcelain, to which she adds sculpted wildlife coated with red iron oxide. After recieving her BFA in ceramics from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Mary She now lives in New York where she creates her work out of a barn on the south shore of Long Island. :)
