Mary and I went on a college tour today. I think I may have embarrassed her a bit. Cant imagine why.... Tell me what you think. Should this have embarrassed my daughter? ---------- Tour Guide: ...and for every two residence halls, theres a laundry building with at least a dozen machines... JFD: Is that enough for both kinds of laundering? Tour Guide: You mean washers and dryers? JFD: No, this is Illinois, so half the machines must be for clothes-laundering, and half the machines are for money-laundering... Tour Guide: I think youre exaggerating... JFD: Ah, so the ADM rep hasnt paid you a visit yet, huh? Give it time... -------------------- Then as we approached a building from the back, seeing a back yard full of swing sets and see-saws and plastic play castles... JFD: Oh, so thats the freshman housing, huh? Tour Guide: Um... no... on your right is the campus child care center, where a lot of our professors and other employees and some of the students bring their children for daycare. JFD: And if you dont have a child of your own, a child will be provided for you. ----------------------- Tour Guide: Up ahead, we have our brand new, state-of-the-art, modern library, with everything you need... JFD: So that means no books, just a big lounge with comfy chairs, power outlets and WiFi... ----------------------- Biology Professor: Now, some of our introductory science classes are grouped between forensic studies, organic studies, and undergraduate studies... JFD: I had undergraduate studies in my college too.... Freshman year I studied blond undergraduates, sophomore year I studied redheads... Biology Professor: The forensic studies class is popular for the non-science students who are just getting their general science requirements over with... it has research on cool things like blood spatter, crime scene investigation, etc... JFD: Sounds like a great pre-requisite to the theater class on Stephen Sondheim... After that, Mary continued the rest of the tour on her own... John F. Di Leo
