Mary makes her way up to her dorm room. She had taken the long way - TopicsExpress

Mary makes her way up to her dorm room. She had taken the long way up to the seventh floor so she could avoid Mulciber. With the deal broken there was no telling what he might try if they crossed paths again. She walks into her dorm, closes the door, leans against it, and closes her eyes for a moment – taking a deep breath to clear her mind. She only opens her eyes when she hears a faint hoot in the room. Her eyes fall on a brown barn owl that she recognizes as her father’s messenger owl. Smiling she walks up to her bed. On her bed was a bat, and a small bag of baseballs. A letter was attached to the owl, so Mary takes it off and reads it while she pets the bird. “Mack, Sorry it took so long to get back to you, honey. Your mother and I, Travis’s parents as well, were approached by a small group of Aurors. There was an attack on a muggle family in town. We heard rumors of it happenin, but we never expected it to happen here. (We are alright). Your mother has been busy consoling her classes as the child in the family was one of her students. Anyway, I hope everything is going well with the rebuilding of the Green Houses. Don’t let the Mulciber boy get to you. I know how his family can be and if he is anything like his father he likes playing with your head. Trust in your friends. If anything happens go to them, they are good people. The bat is the same as the one that was turned to ash. It and the balls just need broken in a little before they feel familiar. Have fun. Bulb bounced through home base. Dad PS Tell Jake that he better watch his back with my little girl.” She smiled a little when she read “Bulb bounced through home base.” It was something he had always said to make her laugh and she would always correct him by saying that it was the root, referring to Babe Ruth, who won the game. She wrote a quick response (asking if there was anything she could do to help them, as well as the updates on the Green Houses and with Jake) before tying it to the barn owl and taking it over to the open window. Once the bird was out of sight she walks back over to her bed and opens the bag to get a ball out. She tosses the ball up into the air and catching it a few times. A grin spreads across her face.
