Mary, when are you going again? I really want to try and make an effort to line up some days off and get Jim to do the same so I can go.....although I am not capable or hauling tables over my head!! .........................................First of all, you dont need to be able to lift anything to be useful there. Even if you want to get your hands dirty with cleanup you can always just limit what you move to what you can handle, but there are a million other things that need to be done. I can put you in touch with a woman that will have a list families you can check on and make sure they are ok with food and water or you can sign up with the red cross to help cook or pass out food. The Red Cross has already left Shawnee, but im sure there is a local center that could use help. It is still up in the air on when we go back, but rumor has it there will be two more runs. One will be in late sept or very early oct and thats going to be a big one. I am thinking maybe a fund raiser at Bourbon street, among other ideas to raise funds, rather than just depend on donations for that one. And I think it would be a fantastic way to actually meet some of the people that have been so involved in our runs over the years. Its amazing how so many people from so many different walks of life have come together and i think it would be great to actually get together and celebrate that and have a good time while we raise money. We have many ideas, but nothing has been put into motion yet they are still just ideas. If anyone has any ideas of their own to add, please feel free to comment..... I will not wait for that run before I go back, I need to check on my peeps. It will be at least a month because, believe it or not, I have to work and I have 4 kids lol. When I am a little more sure of anything I was just babbling about I will let you know.
