Mary’s Great Sorrow Perseverance throughout this consecration - TopicsExpress

Mary’s Great Sorrow Perseverance throughout this consecration will come primarily from Divine motivation. The fuel for this motivation is the sorrow of our Lady and our Lord. The flame that will keep your fuel burning is your reaction to this sorrow. Are you willing to walk in the footsteps of Mary when so many of them contain sorrow? This sorrow is revealed in the many teachings of the Saints: “If you really want to love Jesus, first learn to suffer, because suffering teaches you to love.” – St. Gemma Galgani Mary in her life on earth sought after her Son in much weeping and sorrow. When the Child Jesus was lost for three days Luke 2:48 states “And seeing him, they wondered. And his mother said to him: Son, why hast thou done so to us? Behold thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.” Origen, who lived in the 3rd century, was a priest, confessor and father of the Church, and in a sermon on this passage quotes “Let us beseech him, let us seek him in much laboring and with sorrow of spirit and then we shall be able to find him whom we seek. For not idly was it written “thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing”. He who seeks Serviteurs de Jésus, let him not seek carelessly or casually, or for the passing moment, as many seek him and so cannot find him. Let us however say to him “we have sought thee sorrowing” and when have said this he will make answer to our laboring souls that has sought him with anguish and he will say “did you not know that I must be about my fathers business.” Origen teaches us too seek the Lord in a spirit of sorrow like Mary. Can we truly love someone and not feel sorrow if they are threatened or in danger? This is why, even today, Our Lady continues with miraculous signs to remind us that the spiritual welfare of our souls, and those of our neighbors is an urgent priority. Being aware of, and sharing in this sorrow, will offer great motivation when fervently and perseveringly undertaking the steps of the consecration to Mary. Have you ever felt like crying when you have seen your mother cry? Have you ever had that confidence of doing what ever it takes to comfort, console or even share her sorrow? What if you saw Mother Mary weeping, would you have the same tears and confidence to be willing to do whatever it takes to comfort, console and suffer with her? If your answer is yes, you have taken the first steps in following our Lady.
