Masauko Chipembere was a chief nationalist strategist and spokesman for Malawi. His intelligence, determination, energy, integrity and selflessness appealed to the villagers, chiefs, his fellow legislators and other Africans concerned with the political emergence of Malawi. His efforts helped the 1964 independence movement come to fruition. In the 1970s, he took refuge at Harvard University in Massachusetts to write his autobiography and the account of the freedom struggle in Africa.
