Mascot Profile: Bode Age: 11 months D.O.B.: 6/18/2013 Place in the Pack: 2 or 3? And then there was one … and the jury is still definitely “out” on this guy, our youngest of the Tall Timber Mascots – Bode. Young Bode is merely eleven months old at this time, and is deep in his training to become a bird dog and overall good citizen. He seems to have all of the requisites for becoming a good hunter: 1. Loves running in the woods. 2. Has plenty of confidence when we’re out there in the woods. 3. Enjoys gun fire. 4. Positively lives for finding birds. 5. Does a good job listening to his commands. But … he struggles to establish and hold his points on birds, the most important attribute for a German Shorthaired POINTER. He did point one grouse last fall when he was running with Rudy, but that has been it so far, so we have lots of training to do this summer. Monty and Rudy have given him a good start, but now he’ll have to make his way on his own, and hopefully it happens soon. What about his relationship with the rest of the pack? He seems to be an equal opportunity offender, wearing out his welcome in varying periods of time with Greta, Rudy and Monty. He is irrepressible though, with his customary puppy bounce and continually wagging tail, so it’s pretty hard for anyone, dogs included, to actually stay mad at him for very long. Yes, he was named after NH native and Olympic skier Bode Miller, so we’re hoping that some day he brings home some gold too. Until then, his training will continue …
