Mask issues??? Here are 5 Golden rules for hassle free mask wearing! 1. Don’t over tighten!!!! The mask should be able to pull away from your face an inch or so and not stuck to your face like a suction cup. If it is too tight, your cheeks may fold creating a channel for water to flood in. Also, a tight mask will naturally try and move up and off of your head, pushing the base of your nose towards your forehead. This creates two channels either side of your nose for water to enter (and you may have a sore noise afterwards)! 2. Position your mask close to your upper lip; this helps avoid the last problem. 3. Position the strap on the middle of your head, not by your neck and not to high 4. Don’t have twisted straps! 5. Guys, facial hair….. a little Vaseline on the moustache area helps the mask create a smooth seal with the hair minimizing leaking. Gals, pull those luscious locks out of the mask skirt so it doesn’t break the seal and let water flood in! The number one rule that trumps them all, don’t be afraid of adjusting your mask underwater! If it feels too tight, loosen it, if it’s leaking, pull it down and closer to your upper lip. Just whenever your playing with it, exhale through your nose and it will remain clear and water free! If you are one that lives in fear of the mask flood, be brave, practice makes perfect!
