Mass is one of the names by which the sacrament of the Eucharist - TopicsExpress

Mass is one of the names by which the sacrament of the Eucharist is commonly called in the Roman Catholic Church, Western Rite Orthodox churches and many Old Catholic, Anglican, and Lutheran churches. Apart from Eucharist others are the Lords Supper, the Breaking of Bread, the Eucharistic assembly (synaxis), the memorial of the Lords Passion and Resurrection, the Holy Sacrifice, the Holy and Divine Liturgy and Holy Communion. In these denominations, the term Mass often colloquially refers to the entire church service in general. For the celebration of the Eucharist in Eastern churches, including those in full communion with the Holy See, other terms such as the Divine Liturgy, the Qurbono Qadisho or Holy Qurbana and the Badarak are normal. The term Mass is derived from the Late Latin word missa (dismissal), a word used in the concluding formula of Mass in Latin: Ite, missa est (Go; it is the dismissal). In antiquity, missa simply meant dismissal. In Christian usage, however, it gradually took on a deeper meaning. The word dismissal has come to imply a mission. These few words succinctly express the missionary nature of the Church. (Pope Benedict XVI, Sacramentum caritatis, 51) Now, if your church is having a mass this morning, instead of a service or meeting, you need to find another church! Churches who use the word mass think the meeting has some sort of mystical power related to salvation, and it doesnt. We come together for 1 Cor 14:26 for edifying the hearers, not ever to resurrect the risen Christ and crucify him over again. Christ went to the cross and paid our sins, all physical that could be done was done on the cross- Jesus said himself IT IS FINISHED John 19:30, and there is nothing you can add to what God has finished no matter how much work you do. Also, the churches job isnt to command men to be unmarried, nor command men to not eat until 6 pm for some nonsense reasons like churches of the mass do, and God calls them a doctrine of DEVILS!: 1Timothy 4:1-3 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. Today is a great day to remember what Christ did for all men, worship him, serve him, obey him! Whosoever will, let him come... but God is holy, dont make him an object of your vain tradition. Devil worshipers have mass There are also mass murderers, and mass destruction. Birds of a feather....
