Massachusetts Department of Transportation TRAFFIC ADVISORY For Immediate Release: METHUEN – INTERCHANGE RECONSTRUCTION ON INTERSTATE 93 AT ROUTES 110 AND 113 METHUEN ROTARY ** CLOSING I-93 BREAKDOWN LANE TO TRAVEL EFFECTIVE JULY 28, 2014 ** The Massachusetts Department of Transportation will prohibit travel in the I-93 breakdown lane from Exit 46 - Routes 110/113 to Exit 47 - Pelham St. on I-93 Northbound and from the Pelham St. on-ramp to the Routes 110/113 on-ramp on I-93 Southbound. This is being done as part of the Methuen Rotary Reconstruction Project. The breakdown lane closure will be effective starting on Monday July 28, 2014, and will continue until further notice. The breakdown lane closure is a preliminary traffic control measure. Future lane shifts will be required to complete the work of the project. The Methuen Rotary Reconstruction Project will replace the existing rotary with a partial cloverleaf interchange to improve safety and reduce congestion. Additionally, MassDOT will: • build or realign four I-93 on- and off-ramps, • build a new I-93 southbound loop on-ramp and northbound loop off-ramp, • realign Route 110/113, • build new signalized intersections east and west of the interchange on Route 110/113, • rebuild existing city-owned signalized intersections at Forest Street/North Lowell Street (Route 113) and Burnham Road/Green Street/Haverhill Street (Route 110), and • improve pedestrian and bicycle accommodations For transportation news and updates visit MassDOT at our website: mass.gov/massdot, blog: mass.gov/blog/transportation, or follow MassDOT on Twitter at twitter/massdot and Facebook at facebook/massdotinfo.
