Match Day 11 Away Boxted Lodgers v Stanway Rovers An afternoon kickoff on a very wet & grey day saw us take an early lead with Ziggy L running through and hitting a strike from outside the box into the top corner 0-1! Before Boxted new it wed scored our second. We had a corner on the left side wiped in by Ziggy L, the Boxted defence failed to clear it and after I had lost my marker the ball fell to me feet. I skipped past an advancing player and smashed it through the crowded penalty box into the back of the net 0-2! Boxted then found some drive and started to get the ball down and play some good football. After we were forced it to an early change with Matty B coming on for the injured Alfie P who was having an influential game at the back and a reshuffle with me coming into central midfield after starting on the right Jack P moving from his better central midfield position into Alfie Ps central defence role and Matty B going on to the right and before we could settle they won a throw in deep in our half launched the ball to the opposite side of the box. Boxteds number 9 court a sweet volley into the roof of the net 1-2! After that it felt like we were losing, with Boxted having there best spell of the game due to the Boxted number 5 influencing the game down our right side. The halftime whistle couldnt have come at a better time. Another couple of changes saw Kyle swopping with Todd Alfie P come on for Joe G. and Jack P moving over onto the left side of defence. Halftime 1-2 In the second half Boxteds game plan was to push two players up front and hit long diagonal balls over the top. This freed up space in the central areas for me to exploit, allowing me to run at the Boxted defence linking up well with both Lewis E, & Ziggy L. I started to grow into my game and with my confidence high I was producing some great skills, after taking on two players with an #Iniesta followed with a #panna pass to Kyle on the wing. Kyle was working tirelessly down the left and was awarded a penalty after being taken out. With Lewis E being substituted for Todd I stepped up to take the penalty in his absence. Slotting the ball passed the diving keeper into the bottom left corner. 1-3! With the pitch becoming heavy I was withdrawn 10 minutes from the end for Lewis E. Who finished the game strong having a couple of chances from distance just missing the target.
